Meet Ashro Woman of the Week, Reta M. from Evergreen, AL
A pillar of courage, strength and intellectual curiosity, Reta is both a retired war veteran and retired correctional officer. She has a bachelor’s degree in criminal science and a deep love for the military and criminal justice.
“The military will teach you how to be determined and apply yourself so that you will be successful in whatever you put your mind to…Criminal justice allowed me to work and understand the mind of a criminal and figure out their motivation, which helped me provide safety and security to my community as a correctional officer.”
Beautiful Reta is undoubtedly a fashionista, but she is also a woman of faith who reads the Bible and takes joy in visiting nursing homes and checking in on her elderly neighbors. Her style is both head turning and sophisticated.

| Knowing that God has blessed me with another day to help another soul. |

| I’m a retired war veteran and correctional officers |
| How do you spend your free time? |
| Reading, helping others and visiting the nursing home |
| What small thing makes you happy? |
| Giving to the church and doing all I can for the up building of God Kingdom. |
| What is your best dish? Who do you make it for—and where do you typically serve it? |
| Potatoes Salad, Collar Greens and Turkey Ribs. |
| What has been your greatest struggle…and your greatest (or latest) triumph? |
| My greatest struggle is to do all I can in the community to helper the elderly, to make sure they are suitably taking care of. My greatest was sponsoring my Bishop’s anniversary for the whole diocese. A total of 169 people total. A black tie affair. |
| Who influenced you the most in your life. Why? And in what way? |
| My parents, they both were a pillar of the community and had I was blessed to have children, I would have raised them the same way my parents raised me. |

| I dress for anniversary, and really I don need an occasions. Any church occasion |

| Yes, at least twice a month. I love all sizes and shape. Yes I wear hats to church. |

| Very much so. I’m the President of the Deacon’s Union for my diocese in the states of AL., N.W., FL., & TX. I’m also the chair Deaconess at my home church. My mother was an ordained Elder in the church and a pastor. My father was also a deacon. |
| How are you passing along your faith traditions onto your children/grandchildren? |
| Children in general and to see the elderly happen. I visit the nursing home often. |
| Your best advice? |
| Love everyone, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. |
| What lessons has motherhood (or being a grandmother) taught you? |
| I’m not a mother, one would never know it, church love to follow me home. Great nieces, nephew. During the summer, one would thing I run a Day Care. Their vacation place is my house. And yes I have to take them on vacation. |
